Gilded Winter Romance on Ruffled

So excited to share some drool-worthing images from our Gilded Winter Romance shoot featured on Ruffled. Using “texture” as inspiration for the shoot, Juli Vaughn created a dazzling display using a mixture of metal, tile, patterns, beading, and more. Our darling Heidi Geldhauser of Our Labor of Love was on hand to capture every last glitzy detail. It’s always a pleasure working with these talented ladies.

From the event designer and stylist, Juli VaughnIn the last shoot, the image we selected inspired buzz words like idyllic, soft, fluffy, ethereal, and floral. Buzz words are a great way to figure out your style parameters. One of the words I hear in the wedding and design world quite a bit is “texture.” Texture is one of my favorite things to play with. Incorporating texture can take a simple color scheme from a snooze-fest to something really thought provoking. Our inspiration image for this shoot has a ton of texture – tile, fur, mixed patterns, metals, marble, and wood – but the neutral tones create a base.

When combining textures, make sure that the colors complement each other or are neutral enough that they don’t take on an “everything but the kitchen sink” appearance. It’s similar to the way a designer uses multiple patterns in a well decorated room. As long as the color scheme is adhered to – you can toss in pattern to your heart’s content and it all goes together.

A money-saving side note to incorporate texture: One unusual and cost effective thing we did was to take one of the gorgeous linens from Party Tables and create a wallpaper effect with it. This can be a way to introduce pattern into a space for the less “crafty” brides out there. Order a large tablecloth (or multiple ones) and simply hang them as backdrops. You won’t have to purchase a bunch of material that you’ll never use again!

Bohemian Glam Inspiration on Green Wedding Shoes

In an industry flooded with a constant stream of beautiful imagery and inspiration, it’s not often that you get to be a part of a shoot that really stands out from the crowd. When Lindsay Coletta approached me with the idea of a Gypset-bohemian inspired shoot I was totally on board! From wildly romantic florals to teepees and even real life llamas – she nailed every detail about this shoot.

Heidi Geldhauser of Our Labor of Love  did a phenomenal job capturing the gorgeous colors and light. I seriously can’t decide on a favorite detail from this magical shoot. Can you?

A Taste of Foxhall

Blue Eyed Yonder | A Taste of Foxhall | Photo by Buffy Dekmar

A little while back I had the great pleasure of teaming up with some of my favorite Atlanta vendors for a styled shoot and tasting celebration to debut Foxhall’s newest venue, Lakeside Terrace. Stylist, Ginny Branch, created a sea of neutrals using crisp green and natural elements such as oyster shells and wooden slabs. Erica Loesing of Yes Ma’am Paper + Goods handcrafted a stunning invitation suite including hand lettering and custom paper cuts. She also hand lettered tags for the food display and escort cards. The Savage Garden wowed everyone with a dramatic driftwood installation above the head table and created an unbelievable lakeside altarpiece. For the lounge area, Blue Eyed Yonder incorporated some of our favorite neutral upholstered pieces accented with natural wood tables and accessories.

The shoot and tasting could not have been more beautifully documented. Buffy Dekmar (Buffy Dekmar Photography) and husband, Chris Dekmar (Dekmar Films) were on hand to capture all these beautiful details. You couldn’t ask for a more down-to-earth, talented duo. They’re both so easy going and unbelievably talented.

From Buffy“This shoot, designed by Ginny Branch and executed by Sun in My Belly, features a light, natural palette. Lush greenery with succulents and green apples provides an unexpected crisp freshness to the florals (by Savage Garden). The venue is a peacful sporting resort just outside of Atlanta, and one of my favorite details was the ethereal “Kensington” bridal gown by Carol Hannah Whitfield (via The Sentimentalist)–so pretty and soft!”

Utterly Engaged Premier Print Issue

Utterly Engaged Premier Print Issue

I’m very much a digital girl, but I gotta admit, there’s just something special about flipping through a beautiful glossy magazine. I’ve obsessed over Utterly Engaged’s online wedding magazine for quite sometime. They have such a beautiful aesthetic and I’m constantly inspired. When they announced Utterly Engaged was going to print, I was beyond ecstatic!

I’m so excited to be one of the first to debut their lovely cover and have a special part in this first print issue. I’ll be sharing more about the new issue including an article that Blue Eyed Yonder had the honor of being a part of with the talented Annette Thurmon of Chaviano Couture.

A huge congrats to the Utterly Engaged team on a job well done! If you’re a fan of a good ol’ fashioned magazine like me, click here to grab a copy.
