We had such a blast working with these adorable chicks for Blue Eyed Yonder’s spring web covers. I could have filled every cover slide with cute little pictures of them, but I had to remind myself… I rent vintage furniture not baby chickens.
Where, oh where, did you find the little fuzzie fellas?
Like most of my finds, I started with Craigslist. (Where would I be without that site? Somewhere Mr. BEY is answering “A whole lot richer”, don’t mind him.) I stumbled onto Farmer John’s ad for baby chicks. He had many varieties for sale and lots of chicks that were just a few days old. Perfect! I love ’em when they’re fuzzy.
I’m sure Mr. Blue Eyed Yonder never knows what to expect when he answers my calls, and I can assure you he had NO idea I was gonna to tell him I’m picking up ten baby chicks after work! Nope, never a dull moment around here.
We drove out to Farmer John’s house where we took a brief tour of his lovely chicken coop and picked out chicks for the shoot. We selected 10 chicks of varying breeds. I’ll be the first to admit, I have a lot to learn when it comes to chickens, but I had fun doing a little homework to learn more about each breed.
If you’re ever in the market for baby chicks, give Farmer John a call! I’m more than happy to pass along his number if you’re interested.
Spring has sprung here at Blue Eyed Yonder. Check out our new homepage photos featuring these cute little guys. Nothing says “welcome spring” like little chickies!
We had so much fun working with the chicks and styling the new BEY spring cover. I’m curious, which new cover slide is your favorite?
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Not only is it Valentine’s Day, it’s Random Acts of Kindness Week. Last year we had so much fun cookin’ up lots of fun surprises, like mystery flowers for the gals at the office, buying an entire construction site coffee & doughnuts, paying for the lady’s tab behind me in the drive-thru, and donating a basket full of goodies to the local women’s shelter.
This week my Dad had the sweetest random act of kindness. He told me about the head cook at his local Waffle House. He overheard her talking to some customer’s saying that she had never received flowers. This really struck my Dad and he told me he wanted to give her some flowers for Valentine’s Day. Is that the sweetest thing or what?
I gave Dad this lovely spring bouquet that I made for a photo shoot this past weekend. I was so happy to know that it would go to someone very deserving. I can only imagine the look on her face when she lays eyes on these flowers.
Dad’s random act of kindness really got me in the spirit to spread the joy. How about you? Do you have any fun things planned for Random Acts of Kindness Week?
Can you believe Valentine’s Day is only 5 days away?
I love seeing the flurry of pretty posts around the web this time of year. So much inspiration! I don’t get too caught up in the hype or commercialism of the holiday. We usually keep it sweet and simple, the gift of a hand-made present (my favorite kind), heart-shaped pancakes (yum!), or simply sharing a bottle of our favorite bubbly. A couple year’s back I hollowed out this old lightbulb for Mr. Blue Eyed Yonder. He keeps it on his nightstand (sentimental chap).
I need to get in gear and cook up some sweet ideas, it kind of slipped up on me this year. What fun Valentines ideas do you have up your sleeve? Do you have any lovey dovey traditions? Let’s hear it!
