RAOK: Doughnuts + Coffee

via here

Day 2. Second Act.

Hmm, those construction workers look cold. And they don’t look very happy to be working at 7am the morning after Valentine’s Day. What could turn their day around?

Hey Mr. Blue Eyed Yonder, go pick up a pile of warm Krispy Kremes and piping hot coffee. We’ve got to remedy this situation quick.

Yep, doughnuts and coffee for an entire jobsite. Seeing their frowns turned upside down… worth every penny.

It’s not too late, join in on Random Acts of Kindness Week and let us know what sweet plans you have up your sleeve.

RAOK: Mystery Flowers

It’s here… Random Acts of Kindness Week. What better way to kick it off than with a bushel of beautiful flowers, 15 little bushels to be exact.

Every Valentine’s day it’s always exciting to see who gets flowers at the office. This year I thought, why not give all the ladies flowers. Just a little way to make each one of them feel extra special.
Each bouquet was finished off with a little pink heart tied around the vase. No note, no name, no need for thank yous. We were quite sneaky and delivered all of the flowers late Sunday night so they would be there bright and early Valentine’s morning. Man, let me tell you, flowers do wonders for drab cubicles.

The “mystery flowers” were all the buzz. It was quite fun watching all the ladies try to figure it out. I’m so happy to have had a small part in making their day a little sweeter.
I can’t wait to see what the rest of this week holds. How about you, have you taken part in RAOK week yet?

Oh Darling!

A few weeks back I splurged a little. This darling dresser was just too cute to pass up. I love her dainty details: delicately carved trim pieces, original matching hardware, and sweet little legs with casters. She politely asked, “Take me home, please.”
And as they say, the rest is history.

It’s not that she’s just pretty to look at, she’s actually made very well too. All the drawers open and close so easily. Believe it or not, you can actually open the large drawers by pulling on only one knob – now that’s craftmanship!
We’ve had our eyes open for a bedroom dresser for quite some time. A piece that we both loved that we could share. Mr. Blue Eyed Yonder currently keeps his clothes in a plain-jane, Ikea dresser in the guest bedroom. So watch out, this is a big step. His clothes and my clothes sharing the same space? Ahh… it must be love.
Am I weird for being excited about sharing a dresser? Maybe a little.

Wanna peek into my drawers? Why Krista, you’re so fresh!

Don’t act surprised, you knew I wouldn’t leave the inside all bare and lonely. I created scented drawer liners using some extra fabric I had laying around. You know what that means? Yes, a fun DIY to come. Hip hip hooray!
There’s only one thing missing… a name. You know I name everything. I’d love to hear what suggestions you have. Just remember, she’s old, dainty and full of charm.
Oh yeah, it’s Valentine’s Day so do something sappy. Say “I love you”, say it often. Fly it on a banner or shout it from a rooftop. Go big or go home, right? And if you pick the “go home” option, just give your Valentine your heart… actually tape it to his chest.
Yeah, I’m corny like that, but he loves it. (Him and his wild Sunday morning hair do.) Hmm, I have the feeling I’m gonna get the side eye for posting this picture. Ok, I better go. I gotta call some people about a banner or find our extension ladder.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Be Mine

Remember in school you use to decorate little mailboxes that hung off the side of your desk? When Valentine’s day came, you would watch as that little mailbox grew fatter and fatter, just bursting with lots of valentines from your friends and classmates.
I always loved Valentine’s Day at school. I would always pick out my outfit the night before (surely something pink or red, and if I was really feeling peppy, my little conversation heart earrings).
We usually picked out store-bought Valentine’s, maybe Rainbow Brite or Strawberry Shortcake. Each card would say something simple, “You’re berry special”, “I like you”, “Your friendship brightens my day”, and so on. You would think you could just drop the cards in an envelope and then pass them out to your friends, right? Wrong.
I don’t know if it’s a girl thing, or just a 3rd grader thing, but I remember reading each card and then deciding who I wanted that specific card to go to. Crazy? Nah.
I mean you couldn’t let the grody boy in the third row get the coveted, “Be Mine” valentine. Then he might think that you wanted to hold his hand or trade lunches with him. He might think you’re into his spitballs – eww.

Each valentine has a purpose. Each one crafted with love for that special someone. I dropped this little handmade valentine in the mail just a few days ago. Through the many scanners and countless mail handlers, I hope it will arrive safe and put a big smile on someone’s face.
Happy Valentine’s Day you love muffins!

Random Acts of Kindness Week

Photo via here.

In case you haven’t heard, February 14-20 is Random Acts of Kindness Week. I’m all for random acts of kindness any ol’ day, but an entire week dedicated to this beautiful concept? Awesome!

Mr. Blue Eyed Yonder and I have been brainstorming lots of fun ideas. The possibilities are endless! We’ve also gotten tons of inspiration from Becki over at Whippy Cakes. She took the random acts of kindness to the extreme by completing 26 Random Acts of Kindness on her 26th birthday. How awesome is that?

I’d love for you guys to take part in this special week too. Spend a little time this weekend deciding who’s world you’re gonna light up next week. Let me know if you have any great ideas or perhaps any random acts of kindness you have done in the past. I’m so excited to hear your thoughts and just know next week is going to be amazing.

Let the randomness begin!
