Oh no she didn’t…
Oh, yes I did.
I totally plastered my walls with loads of vintage Shiny Brite ornament boxes and smothered my tree in silvery tinsel. It’s the brightest, shiniest, happiest Christmas this house has ever seen!
I hung my very own vintage stockings by the chimney with care. (When you’re thirty, I’m pretty sure your handmade childhood stocking classifies as ‘vintage’.)
Now, for the real retro action… ding!
I set the tree ablaze with tons of terrific colored lights. Big colored bulbs and even a few strands of vintage bubble lights. (You know, these guys.)
I’ve always been a ‘white light girl’. I don’t know what came over me this year. I guess I was feeling brave and just wanted something colorful and over the top, something a little outside of my comfort zone. I’ve been
collecting Shiny Brite ornaments at flea markets and yard sales and wanted a way to debut them in style! I had no idea how many I had until I started unpacking them all. I love them! (And I may be just a little bit addicted.)
So I went big. I went bold. And I think I ended up with the cheeriest living room ever! It’s totally normal to keep it up all year, right?

I LOVE it. we have the same taste in Christmas. love that display with the gold sign. you're awesome.
Thanks Lesley! Mr. BEY made cut the gold sign out for me with an X-acto. That boy has patience!
This is really beautiful & so fun!
Merry Christmas!
Thanks so much Tammy! You guys have fun with the little one this Christmas.
Totally leave this up all year! It's beautiful! All your shiny bright boxes remind me Anthropologie's holiday windows in New York a few seasons back. What a great way to display them. And I really love the giant vintage Santa by your fireplace. Where did he come from?
I TOTALLY saw that Anthro display! I have been wanting to recreate it somehow ever since. It just takes a little while to round up enough boxes.
I'm in love with my Santa too! I got him at a Antique Christmas auction just east of Atlanta. He's one of my favorite pieces this year.
Merry Christmas!
LOVE IT!!
How am I just stumbling on this mantle…that is the single most delicious sight I just LOVE it !!!
wonderful !!!
Where have you been all my life? I am *dying* over your Shiny Brite display — awesome!!
How did you stick them up there? I would be scared they were going to fall out of the boxes!
Awww, I love it! And, um, I wouldn't say 30 years is vintage, just well-aged, like a fine wine! (And I can say that, as I am 35!) HA!
Just came across your blog for the first time and I am in love with your shiny & bright display!!! Probably the most creative Christmas decorations I have come across in the longest time! Great job!!! Happy New Year to you and yours~
