Swoon… don’t you just love a romantic man?
Last week we slipped down to Lake Blackshear to help our buddy Reece with a romantic proposal to his girlfriend, Katie. He’s a huge outdoorsman, so naturally he asked her to marry him on the water in his fishing boat. He tied the ring to her fishing hook! How cute is that?
As an added element of surprise, he asked me to spruce up the room a little bit while they were out for dinner. Gorgeous white tulips, dainty desserts, rose petals and tons of votives (hey, I watch the Bachelor… you can’t skimp on the votives.)
Not only was the room all dolled up, Reece managed to slip in a sweet sentimental gesture as well. (You know I am a total sucker for the sentimental stuff.) On their first date they picked up a bottle of wine (for her) and some beer (for him) to have as they spent some time chatting and getting to know each other better. After a few sips of wine, Katie said, “Actually, can I just have one of your beers?” Reece said he knew right then that she was his kind of gal.
So in the room, we placed a bottle of wine (the very same type of wine they had on their first date) and Reece brought two very special glasses. No, not crystal or a snazzy fluted number, he brought two plastic wine glasses… the very same glasses they drank out of on their first date. (Aww!) And of course we had a bucket of beer, in true country boy fashion.
