Oh My Darling Clementine

Do you ever run across something and know it’s just meant to be?
The other day, while peeling a clementine at my desk, the beauty of the fruit struck me. It’s the perfect round size and they’re so easy to peel. As I pulled back the skin, you could see a fine spray of mist escape. The smell completely filled my office, so intoxicating, so refreshing.

Looking at the clementine, so perfectly created, each part of it designed for a specific purpose, I knew I wanted to take some time to try to capture its beauty.
Coincidently, while browsing one of my favorite antique stores, something caught my eye. At first I was struck by its beautiful green cover, then I picked up the book and read the spine – Clementine in the Kitchen.
The perfect photo prop for the perfect fruit. Love it!

Flipping through the book I found many darling illustrations of Clementine and her kitchen adventures. I believe she must have some French inspirations for many of the recipes and stories in the book use French words and terminology.

I can’t wait to read more about this charming character while munching on some yummy clementines, of course! What fruit makes you smile these days?

This is a totally adorable post. Clementines are delicious and perfect and the name is quite cute, too! I like almost all fruit, but oranges/satsumas/clementines are at the top, along with peaches & nectarines when they're in season.

Claire – I am a huge fan of peaches and nectarines in the summer! I'm counting down the days until I can sink my teeth into a big juicy peach. Yum! And I have never heard of satsumas. I'll definitely have to keep my eye out for those.

Lesley – Thanks for the sweet comment. Miss Rosetta came in the mail, but we haven't had a chance to give it a try yet. We have been away from home for the last few weekends. Maybe one night this week we'll get the chance to dig our heels in. I can't wait to get started!

you are so cute. I would have to say fresh Strawberries. My MIL makes amazing strawberry shortcake and once a year we eat that, and only that, for dinner!

Yes! Strawberries are awesome, strawberry shortcake… even better! I think I am a lover of all fruit. I am just lazy when it comes to washing/cutting/peeling/etc. Shh, I'm so bad. 🙂

Love these colors. I would take a nectarine or a sweet grape any day. Raspberries and Rainier cherries are up there too.
