Macarons at Montmartre

Let’s take a little trip…back to Paris of course. A trip to the highest point in all of Paris, Montmartre. Of all of our excursions in Paris, I have to say that Montmartre was my favorite. I think it fit the image I had of Paris perfectly.
The beautiful views, the alleys filled with artists, the smell of fresh crepes and of course beautiful shop windows filled with macarons!

On a complete side note, have I told you my husband is the sweetest thing ever? Why? Because he does little things like this:

i love my bug so much….she doesn’t even know how much!!!

Yes, he sneaks into my blog drafts and hides little messages. He is gonna laugh when he sees that I let you guys in on his little game.

Okay, so back to macarons. Believe it or not, I had never tried a macaron before. They have become so popular – showing up at weddings, parties and the like, but for some reason I had never eaten one. Once we booked our trip to Paris, I decided to wait and try my first one there. First impressions are everything and I figured what better place to experience the joys of macarons.  Is it just me, or does everything taste better in Paris?

We picked out a variety of flavors and continued our stroll through the streets of Montmartre. Then the time came… time to taste my first macaron. I looked through the cellophane bag. Which color should I choose? For some reason the blazing pink one stood out to me, I believe it was raspberry.

And that, my friends, was the beginning of long friendship with macarons.  We neatly tucked the rest of the macarons in our bag and enjoyed them later that evening, around 7:00, which happens to be the official “sit in the bed and eat macarons” hour in Paris. Ok, so I don’t know how “official” that is, but sitting in the bed looking out over this view…

I’d be happy to make this an official part of everyday.

I have never tried one either and you have inspired me to save my first tasting for a Paris trip!

Magical! I had never tried one either. That's mostly why I got them for Kaleigh's baby shower ;) Paris looks so amazing!

Thanks for bringing back memories… I visited that same spot when I was 19 with my best friend. I loved Paris however I can't say I loved their food. When we got to London I must say I was relieved to see a pizza hut!
