10 things you probably didn’t know

Yesterday I celebrated my 29th birthday and ended up flipping through my baby book that my Mom passed on to me a few months back. Realizing your baby book is technically “vintage”… wow. Sit down for that one.
My Mom did such a great job of keeping up with the little details of my early life. Growing up I remember looking through this book and enjoying the random tidbits about a part of my life that I would otherwise not remember.
Today, we have so many modern ways of journaling our babies’ lives – computers, blogs, even Facebook. Yet I think it is sweet to hold a good, old-fashioned book in my hands and feel the brittleness of the pages. I enjoy seeing my Mom’s handwriting and even noticing how she would often switch pens throughout the book.

So, in the spirit of my birthday, I thought I would give you the
10 Things You Probably Didn’t Know
about the {little} Blue Eyed Yonder…

One
When I was born the nurses called me “little peanut”, weighing just 6 lbs.

Two
The first person I laughed at was my Aunt Gina, she was stepping out of the shower. Wonder what I found so funny?

Three
My first word was “Soccer”. No, not the sport. Soccer was my Grandparent’s dog.

Four
My first sentence was, “Don’t do that anymore, Papa.” He was tapping his fingers on the table. What? Me bossy?

Five
At age 4, I would watch Gone With the Wind over and over again. I used to want to grow up to be like Scarlett. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized, “Hmph, she’s got quite the reputation.”

Six
My first picnic was at Stone Mountain Park. That was also the first time my feet touched grass.

Seven
At 17-months old, Mom asked me, “Where did you get your pretty nose?” to which I replied, “At the store.”

Eight
At 23-months I liked to tell people, “Just a minute, honey” and called instant chocolate milk mix, “dirt.”

Nine
When I was 3 1/2 years old, Mom took me to see E.T. – I cried.

Ten
I was the only girl in my kindergarten class. I loved to wear dresses, the more lace the better!

Well, there you have it. Ten facts you probably didn’t know about {little} Blue Eyed Yonder or “whittle kwitty” as Mr. BEY likes to call me.

So, do you have a baby book? Or do you keep one for your children? I’d love to hear your stories.

I document happenings, events, milestones, accomplishments, activities, and more every month– been doing that since my child was born. I don't want to forget a thing– and I jot things down every day so I don't miss anything 🙂 You are blessed and fortunate to have such a loving and attentive mother. God bless!

Happy birthday! I think my favorite is that you got your nose at the store.

Elizabeth got her kitchen today and loved it. There's a video on my blog. Thank you so much!

My Mom also recently gave me my baby book, gee for 40 years ago, thats sounds aweful. Anyway it was amazing especially the photos of my parents, they were so so young. Anyway, Mom said I couldnt say my birthday (July 31) I would say my birthday is July the tirty thirst. One day I was in the car with my mom and I say this man picking his nose so I rolled down the window and told him it wasnt nice to pick your nose, he was embarrassed and my mom laughed. The best one my mom said was when I was in kindergarten we had apple juice at break well i decided to take my apple juice and stand on the table and hold my cup up and say a cheer for a beer and a happy new year. Well I was sent to the principles office and they called my mom. My mom couldnt help laughing when we got in the car.

Oh wow! Say a cheer for a beer and a happy new year – now I've heard it all. That is hilarious. So glad to hear you guys are doing a great job of documenting your little one's life and enjoying the funny stories of your childhood.

oh my goodness, how so very special!! your momma did do such a good job writing down everything. I can't wait to do the same thing (in an actual book) when my future child arrives 🙂 whenever that is.

i LOVED learning these little bits about little you 😉 like the "at the store" answer– love it!

i don't have a book 🙁 i was the 4th of six kids lol but i always enjoy hearing the stories from my momma– like how i was always the bossier one of us twins even when we were younger. That marianne (my twinkie) would always reach for my hands and i would pull away lol ha
