Stop! In the Name of Love

There’s alway been something very romantic about the simplicity and intimacy of a courthouse elopement – grab your best dress, pluck a fresh bouquet and skip away to the courthouse with your sweetheart. That’s exactly what this adorable couple did, and what’s more romantic than tying the knot on Valentine’s Day? After quick “I do’s” the happily married couple drove off in a classic 1957 Chevy Bel-Air with lots of handmade hearts, cans and streamers trailing behind.

Inspired by courthouse weddings of the 50’s and 60’s we incorporated a knee-length blush pink wedding dress with lace overlay for the bride as well as coordinating vintage accessories and birdcage veil. The groom wore a black suit and handmade skinny black tie. The florals were warm and romantic, using garden roses, tulips, and ranunculus in shades from blush to poppy pink.

The celebration didn’t stop once this couple said “I do”, they dropped custom wedding announcements in the mail inviting friends and family to celebrate their nuptials at a fun, backyard bar-b-que!

Joining the Gingers

I know it’s just hair, so why is it so hard for me to build up the courage for a change?

I have been eyeing these gorgeous ginger locks for some time and finally decided to just go for it! To start, I’m going with a semi-permanent color that will fade over time. I was glad to hear that option was out there, that way you don’t have to marry it right from the beginning.

My all time favorite stylist, Marie, at Dada Salon gave me a darker red color with copper undertones. So it’s not a major change from my natural color, but still a fun sidestep from the norm. I really like it! I think I’m getting braver, maybe next time I’ll even take it up a notch!

How are you with your hair? Are you hesitant to make a change or do you jump right in?

Happy Friday + Instaweek

Have you guys been asking yourself, where has the week gone? This week was packed with so much fun and inspiration, it’s hard to put it into words. From the NotWedding rehearsal dinner, to an amazing lunch with Rustic White Photography, and my first “secret society” meeting – my head is spinning in happy thoughts and tons of great ideas for the future. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by so many sweet and talented people in this industry. It’s true – creativity breeds creativity. Thanks for making my cup overflow!

Bringing home a “hot” late night surprise to the hubby, shooting for wife of the week.
Styling and profiling with lots of fun props for the NotWedding vendor shoot.
Some people question my taste, but this baby’s joining the BEY family.
Proof that my dog is an absolute nut!
Funny how my hair looks red in this pic, it really will be red by next Tuesday – yikes!

Happy weekend guys!

Well, hello there

There’s something about seeing an old car cruising down the highway that just makes everyone smile – complete strangers pull up beside you to give you the thumbs up, people happily toot their car horn or wave.

Growing up, we were constantly surrounded by old cars. We spent many a weekend dressed in poodle skirts and bobby socks for local car shows. Heck, most childhood memories of my Dad involve him in the garage tinkering on one of his cars. I guess an appreciation for things of the past is just engrained in me. It’s true what they say, they just don’t make ’em like they used to.

That’s why I think it’s so cool when brides choose to use a vintage car as their get-away vehicle. They’re just so fun! Seeing a bride and groom hop into an old car and pull away from the guests with a stream of cans rattling behind it is just so charming.

For that reason, I’m so excited to introduce you to this pretty lady! You’ve seen her in last year’s Summer in the South shoot, and now that she’s been spiffied up a little bit, we couldn’t be happier to officially welcome her into the family! (The car, not the girl, silly!)

This gorgeous 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air is such a fun car. With it’s flashy turquoise and white colors, you can’t help but smile while you’re cruising down the road.
